Laqwanda Roberts-Buckley, LMSW
Mental Health Advocate * Public Speaker * Licensed Master’s Social Worker
I love what I do! For years, I've had the pleasure of assisting individuals their mental health journey from all backgrounds including diverse underrepresented populations and the LGBTQ+ community.
I enjoy supporting adults and couples experiencing: Anxiety, Workplace Stress, Caregiver Stress, Life Transitions, Racial Trauma, PTSD, Relationship Issues, Family Conflict, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, other Life Stressors, and more.
I believe wellness is more than a session with a Counselor. It also includes lifestyle changes that are tailored to the person. That's why it's important for me to use therapeutic approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, strength based, and trauma informed.
Outside of session, I am the Founder of Healing Black Women; where I coordinate with 20 Contributors to create a safe space designed to encourage and promote all forms of wellness/healing for black women. I am also the Chief Editor of HealingBlackWomen.com
I am an established/nationally recognized speaker and have spoken on various platforms/panels with entities such as Eventbrite, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Austin Black Pride, Environmental Protection Agency, Council on Social Work Minority Fellowship Program, US Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives, Kaiser Permanente, Entrepreneurs’ Organization and local government agencies to name a few. My work as a Mental Health Advocate continued as the former Director of Outreach for the National Office of Mental Health America and through my current roles as a member of the Board of Directors for two well establish mental health non-profits.
I am a Licensed Master’s Social Worker, Life Coach, Reiki II Practitioner, and a Supervisee in Social Work. My clinical supervisor is Merrie Maldonado, LCSW in the State of Virginia.
